What year did you start working for Skyline/IE?

    2021

What is your favorite Skyline/IE project and why?

I’m currently involved in an exciting project at our shop, featuring an innovative design by Corgan Architects for a Baylor Scott & White facility in Dallas. The project consists of a dynamic aluminum panel that is 2 inches deep, housing 15 gear motors, each responsible for rotating an aluminum flower. These flowers, measuring approximately 7″ by 7″, rotate to create an engaging and visually captivating effect.

A distinctive aspect of this project is its interactivity: the flowers activate upon sensing motion. Once triggered, they rotate continuously for 30 seconds, followed by a 2-minute pause, regardless of additional motion detections. Achieving this required detailed planning to guarantee consistent performance.

Although programming the control system was not part of my usual responsibilities as an estimator, I gladly took on this additional role. Integrating mechanical components such as gear motors with motion sensors and a microcontroller was especially rewarding, blending creativity with technical problem-solving and encouraging me to explore innovative solutions. I greatly enjoyed tackling these challenges and look forward to bringing these skills to future projects.

What is your favorite place to eat in Houston?

When it comes to dining in Houston, my favorite spot is Tiger Den in Chinatown. Their tonkatsu ramen is unbeatable. Every Friday, my family—my wife, daughter, son, and I—look forward to gathering there for a warm bowl of soup and enjoying quality time together. It’s our tasty weekly tradition.

What’s the top thing on your bucket list?

As a passionate soccer fan and devoted supporter of Barcelona Fútbol Club, the top item on my bucket list is traveling to Barcelona, Spain. I’m particularly eager to visit and experience the newly renovated stadium of Barcelona FC once its construction is complete. Being able to see the legendary team play in person at their iconic stadium would be a dream come true.
