In a state known for making things bigger and better, the Houston area is getting a new convention center. The new building, part of the entertainment district at Valley Ranch town center, is projected to be the state’s 7th largest convention center. Once completed, the new center will be larger than Dallas Market Center which takes up more than 200,000 square feet. At 210,000 square feet, it will take its place among the largest in the area, behind NRG Center and George R. Brown. Construction is expected to take around 18 months beginning in January 2025.
Unlike the other two main event centers, this new construction will host events north of the Houston area. It is located on nine acres near I-69 and Grand Parkway in the city of New Caney in Montgomery County. This area of greater Houston has grown immensely in recent years. In addition to this convention center, the development is host to the New Caney ISD Natatorium, Randall Reed Stadium, a 40,000-square ft. Cinemark theater, as well as many different retail options.
The New Caney center is expected to drive more than $1.7 billion in economic impact over the next 30 years. Its features are impressive and will include a large ballroom measuring over 50,000 square feet, more than 25,000 ft. of outdoor space & lobby space as well as space for meetings.
